French Lessons for Adults
Junior high school age and above
Lessons are tailored to each student's individual level and pace. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner, whether your goal is everyday conversation or business French, Serge's original teaching method will help you build genuine language skills step by step.
Lessons can also be designed around specific goals — studying abroad in France, preparing for an expat posting, or sitting the DELF/DALF or French Language Proficiency Test (仏検). Those working toward official certification are very welcome.
Homework is assigned after lessons as needed, allowing students to deepen their learning through review and self-study at home.
Features
Lessons follow a regular weekly schedule at a fixed time, making it easy to stay consistent and avoid burnout. Private lessons are tailored entirely to you, allowing for efficient, personalised progress.
Serge speaks Japanese, but lessons are conducted entirely in French. Japanese support is provided when needed.
There are no textbooks. Lessons progress naturally using Serge's original method.
Lesson materials are created using GoodNotes on iPad and sent to students as a PDF after each session.

レビュー
"I'm now able to learn from multiple angles, making use of different tools."
I started lessons with the goal of passing a French language certification exam — a complete beginner who didn't know where to start. Serge wove the words and phrases I was learning into our conversations and custom homework assignments, and I could really feel them taking root. I later moved abroad for work, but I've continued lessons online ever since. Reading and writing via text, speaking and pronunciation via video call — I'm now learning from multiple angles, using each tool for what it does best. Gaining a new language and actually using it to connect with people is genuinely exciting.

"These days, it's also keeping my mind sharp."
I always told myself I'd return to French once I retired — and that's exactly what I did. Because it's a private lesson, every minute of the 60 minutes is mine alone. The materials are all handcrafted originals by Serge, so nothing ever feels repetitive. He adjusts flexibly to my level and goals. Most of all, I'm simply grateful that learning French here is so enjoyable.

"Before I knew it, I had been studying for over 25 years."
I started French in junior high school, wanting to stay connected to the French culture I loved — and that's how I found Serge. Before I knew it, more than 25 years had passed. The reason I've been able to keep going for so long is the sheer variety of lessons: grammar, dictation, stories, picture books, current events, exam preparation, songs, cooking, travel, and more. In 2008, Serge and his wife organised a trip to France that my son — then in third grade — and I joined together. There are so many memories beyond the lessons themselves that I will never forget.
